Q. WHY SHOULD I BUY AN IMPORT?

A. Lot`s of reasons.Higher specification.Air-conditioning,power steering, electric windows etc as standard. You would also enjoy a more powerful and larger engine size and options on top "spec" sportscars such as drop down spoilers, high spec suspension and alloys.Japan has heavy traffic congestion and high road tolls, but an excellent public transport system. All this makes fast driving and thrashing a vehicle impractical.Japanese owners tend to keep their high performance vehicles for show,so they spend alot of their time on the owners driveway immaculately presented and well serviced.

Q. IF A DEALER IS ASKING FOR FULL PAYMENT UP FRONT IS THIS USUAL?

A. No.The British Independant Motor Trade Association says as with any large purchase take the common sence approach of finding out precisely who you are dealing with and where they can be contacted.Where possible take up references from other customers and don`t pay the entire purchase price before you have sight of the vehicle-stage the payments.

Q. WILL MY CAR FETCH LESS SECOND-HAND BECAUSE IT IS AN IMPORT?

A. No.You are probably buying an import because of the better specification and because you want to save money. It is not uncommon for high performance vehicles like the Skyline GTR to make a profit when you sell them on or at the very least break even.

Q. IS IT TRUE THAT JAPANESE VEHICLES ARE LIMITED TO 112MPH?

A. Under Japanese law it is specified that car manufacturers should not build vehicles that exceed a maximum speed of 180kph(112mph).So the engines are chipped to prevent this. However the UK law does not require this so vehicles can be de-chipped at a small cost. This is a service we can supply.
